Everyone has a part to play in ensuring their workplace health and safety and the workplace health and safety (WHS) of others in Australia. All industry is bound by certain legislation covering WHS and Codes of Practice. The Codes of Practice are designed to give practical advice about ways to manage exposure to risks common to industry.
Safe Work Australia reported in 2010, that over the past three years the most common causes of fatality in the Mining industry were vehicle incidents, accounting for 35% of fatalities, and being hit by moving and falling objects, which accounted for 27% of fatalities.
